Cockney traditions are dying out in Newham, east London, according to BBC documentary Last Whites of the East End, with families claiming a huge influx of immigrants has killed off the community spirit that was alive in the 1970s (right and left today). Lifelong residents say people feel 'ostracised' because different cultural groups do not interact. Others say they are leaving the area because they don't want their children to be a minority at school. The documentary airs on BBC1 later this month.
